About this tool

Choose WebP files and save them as AVIF. Conversion keeps the image dimensions. Only the first frame or page is converted. WebP supports transparency and compressed photographs. Check that the app or upload form receiving the result accepts WebP before choosing it. AVIF supports transparency and compressed images. Encoding uses a downloaded WebAssembly codec on your device; older apps may not open the output.

Change an image to PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO or TIFF. JPG and BMP fill transparency with white. Animated inputs and multi-page TIFFs keep only the first frame or page.

Questions

Will WebP to AVIF preserve transparency, dimensions and every frame?

WebP supports transparency and compressed photographs. Check that the app or upload form receiving the result accepts WebP before choosing it. AVIF supports transparency and compressed images. Encoding uses a downloaded WebAssembly codec on your device; older apps may not open the output. Dimensions are kept except when creating ICO sizes. Only the first animation frame or TIFF page is converted.

What happens to transparent areas?

PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and ICO preserve transparency. GIF uses up to 256 colors and on/off transparency. JPG and BMP fill transparent areas with white.

Which input formats can it read?

It reads any image your browser can decode, including PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and ICO where supported. TIFF uses a separate decoder. Only the first animation frame or TIFF page is converted.

Does converting improve quality?

No. Converting cannot restore detail that is already lost. Converting a JPG to PNG makes a larger file with the same pixels, and converting to JPG re-compresses the image.

Is the image uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser tab, so the files stay on your device.
