About this tool
Compress an image toward a 20 KB maximum for small signature or photo uploads. Such a tight budget may require smaller dimensions after quality is reduced. Check that fine signature strokes remain legible and that the resulting pixel dimensions still meet the form rules.
Compress JPG, PNG or WebP images to a maximum KB size by choosing a target and saving a JPG or WebP result in your browser. Upload forms often set a maximum file size for photos and signatures. This tool lowers JPG or WebP quality until the file fits. If quality alone cannot reach the size, it reduces the dimensions too.
Questions
How do I use Compress image to 20 KB, and what should I check?
Compress an image toward a 20 KB maximum for small signature or photo uploads. Such a tight budget may require smaller dimensions after quality is reduced. Check that fine signature strokes remain legible and that the resulting pixel dimensions still meet the form rules.
Will the file be under my size limit?
When the result is marked as within target, it is at or below the size you entered. If the limit cannot be reached even at the lowest quality and smallest dimensions, the tool says so and shows the smallest version it made.
Does it change the dimensions?
Only when lowering quality alone cannot reach the size. Then the image is scaled down in proportion. The new width and height are shown in the results.
Should I choose JPG or WebP?
JPG is accepted by almost every upload form. WebP is usually smaller at the same visual quality, but some forms reject it. If you are unsure, use JPG.
Does it check the form's other rules?
No. Forms can also set width, height, colour or format rules. This tool only controls the file size, so check the form's instructions for the rest.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser tab, so the image stays on your device.
