How to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows
To convert HEIC to JPG on Windows, open docshift's HEIC converter in your browser, choose the photos and download the JPG results. The conversion runs on your device and does not require uploading photos or installing a desktop converter.
Open HEIC to JPGWhat HEIC is
HEIC is a container used for efficiently compressed photos, commonly produced by iPhones. Some Windows apps and upload forms accept JPG but cannot read the original HEIC. Renaming .heic to .jpg does not convert the pixels; the image must be decoded and encoded in the new format.
Convert the photos
Copy the original HEIC or HEIF files onto your Windows device. Choose one or more in the HEIC to JPG tool, adjust the JPG quality and convert. Download individual results or a ZIP. If a HEIC contains multiple images, each becomes a numbered output file.
Choose JPG or PNG
JPG suits photo uploads that require broad compatibility. Lower quality reduces file size but removes detail. PNG saves the decoded pixels without another lossy encode and usually makes larger photographic files. Choose HEIC to PNG when your editor or form specifically needs PNG.
Keep the originals
The output does not retain EXIF capture dates, GPS coordinates or camera details. Keep the HEIC originals for archiving. File creation dates in Windows are not a substitute for the original capture metadata.
If decoding fails
Check that the file really is HEIC or HEIF and has been fully copied. The browser decoder does not support every possible file. Re-export a compatible image from the source device if necessary. For an upload size limit, compress the converted JPG separately and check the required pixel dimensions too.
