Questions
How do I use GIF to WebM, and what should I check?
Turn a GIF animation into a WebM video with its original frame timing. Transparent areas become black. The animation plays once without sound.
Does it keep the animation timing?
Yes. Each decoded GIF frame is encoded with its original delay. The video contains one pass of the GIF animation; the GIF loop count is not copied.
What happens to transparency?
Transparent areas become black. Odd image dimensions are padded by one pixel if needed for H.264 encoding.
Which browsers work?
This tool needs the browser ImageDecoder API and WebCodecs video encoding. Use a current Chrome or Edge if your browser does not support them. GIF files up to 50 MB, 2000 frames and 16 megapixels per frame are supported.
Is my GIF uploaded?
No. Decoding and video encoding run locally in your browser.
docshift is a collection of free PDF, image, video, audio and data tools. File processing runs in your browser; files are never uploaded.
