About this tool

CR2 is the RAW format Canon used for its DSLRs and early mirrorless cameras before CR3. The file is TIFF-based and holds the sensor's unprocessed data. This converts it to a JPG you can share or upload.

Convert camera RAW files to JPG in your browser using a full decode or the embedded preview when decoding fails. A camera RAW file stores the sensor's unprocessed data, which most editors and websites cannot open directly. This tool decodes the RAW in your browser and saves each file as a JPG.

Questions

How do I use CR2 to JPG, and what should I check?

CR2 is the RAW format Canon used for its DSLRs and early mirrorless cameras before CR3. The file is TIFF-based and holds the sensor's unprocessed data. This converts it to a JPG you can share or upload.

Are my RAW files uploaded?

No. The file is decoded by a copy of the LibRaw decoder running in your browser, so the photo stays on your device.

Why do the colors differ from the camera's own JPG?

A RAW file has no in-camera processing applied. The converter uses LibRaw's default white balance and tone settings, which may not match your camera's picture style or your editing software.

Does the JPG keep the camera metadata?

No. The JPG is written from the decoded pixels, so the camera model, lens, exposure settings and GPS data are not copied.

What is the embedded preview fallback?

If the full decode fails, the JPG preview stored inside the RAW file is used instead. Camera previews are often smaller than the full sensor resolution, and the quality setting does not apply to them.
